Online learning & assessments – Work through the theory at your own pace in our easy-to-use student portal. Save your progress and return anytime. Assessments include multiple-choice questions and short video demonstrations (e.g. correct handwashing, checking use-by dates, safe food handling). You can record these on a smartphone or similar device.
Workplace assessment – Students must organise access to a commercial kitchen (such as a café, restaurant, catering service, or community kitchen). An approved industry expert observes you over a minimum of six hours using a checklist we provide. Before any shifts begin, your host site and supervisor must complete a short Pre-Approval Declaration Form, which Eclipse Education reviews and approves. This ensures your workplace meets WHS and food safety requirements. This confirms your ability to apply safe food handling practices in a real workplace.
We provide all forms and guidance once you enrol, and our team reviews and approves the workplace and supervisor before the assessment begins. The responsibility for finding a suitable commercial kitchen lies with the student, but we make the process as simple and supported as possible.

Online theory – Multiple-choice questions and case studies, completed in our student portal. Progress is saved automatically so you can start and stop anytime.
Video demos – Record yourself completing practical food safety tasks (such as washing hands, checking use-by dates, or using barriers when handling food). Videos can be uploaded directly from a smartphone or tablet through our easy-to-use portal.
Third Party Report – Conducted in a commercial kitchen under the observation of an industry expert (such as a chef, food supervisor, or experienced hospitality worker). Using a checklist we provide, the supervisor confirms your ability to apply safe food handling practices in a real workplace. The completed report is then submitted back through the portal for review.
