How the Course Works

The Ballarat barista course runs in two parts. You do the theory online in your own time first, then come in for the hands-on session. Both parts are included in the one price.

1

Online Theory - About 4 Hours, Self-Paced

After you book, you get access to the online theory. Work through it whenever it suits you, on a phone, tablet or computer - you can stop and come back as many times as you need. It covers coffee knowledge, equipment, hygiene and the drinks you will be making, so you walk into the classroom already knowing the background. Please finish this before your classroom date so the practical session is spent on the machine rather than catching up.

2

Classroom Practical - 3 to 4 Hours in Ballarat

Come to 1/122 Armstrong Street South, Ballarat Central on your booked date and spend the session on a real commercial coffee machine with a barista trainer. This is the hands-on part: grinding and dosing, tamping, pulling and tasting shots, texturing milk, pouring cafe-style milk coffees and cleaning down. Just bring yourself - all equipment, coffee and milk are provided. The exact start and finish time for your date is shown on the booking calendar above.

Who Should Attend?

This Ballarat barista course is highly recommended for anybody who wants to kick-start a hospitality career, maintain employment in the cafe industry, or build practical espresso coffee skills for work. It is designed to stand out among the barista courses Ballarat learners compare when they want local, practical training rather than theory alone.

What You'll Learn in Barista Training

The Ballarat barista course is built around the practical cafe skills you actually use behind the machine, from setting the grinder through to pouring silky textured milk. 2

Grind and Dose Coffee

Select and grind coffee beans, set up the grinder, dose and tamp for espresso extraction.

3

Extract Espresso Coffee

Extract espresso, taste and assess its quality, diagnose extraction issues, make grinder adjustments and serve espresso coffee beverages.

4

Milk Texturing & Pouring

Undertake the milk texturing process and learn to pour smooth, cafe-style milk coffees.

5

Customer Orders

Advise customers, take espresso coffee orders and understand common drinks such as latte, cappuccino, flat white, long black and piccolo.

6

Clean Espresso Equipment

Clean espresso equipment, grinders and the coffee workstation so the next service starts safely and professionally.

Upon Completion You'll Receive:

  • Certificate of Completion - Issued by Eclipse Education for the barista course
