Mode of Delivery

Online learning and assessmentsComplete the theory at your own pace in our student portal. Save your progress and return anytime.
Workplace practical assessmentStudents must organise access to an operational food preparation area. A supervisor or industry expert observes and verifies your practical tasks using a checklist we provide. The workplace supervisor or industry expert provides third-party workplace evidence only. Eclipse Education's qualified assessor reviews all submitted evidence and makes the final assessment decision. Eclipse Education may contact the workplace, supervisor or industry expert to verify the workplace details, observer role and authenticity of submitted evidence.
Host Site Pre-Approval and DeclarationBefore any practical tasks begin, your chosen workplace must be approved by Eclipse Education. A supervisor or food handler at the site completes a short online form confirming suitability. We provide this form and manage the approval process.
Privacy during workplace recordingPractical tasks are recorded on video as part of the assessment evidence. All recordings are handled in accordance with Eclipse Education's privacy policy, and workplace participants are informed before recording begins.
Workplace evidence requirementsYou will complete a set of structured workplace tasks and reporting forms provided by Eclipse Education. These are submitted directly to Eclipse and form part of your assessment evidence. Workplace practical tasks may include safe food handling during receiving, storing, preparing, processing, displaying, serving, packaging, transporting and disposing of food, as well as temperature monitoring, temperature probe checks, cleaning/sanitising tasks, and reporting food safety issues.
We provide all instructions, forms, and guidance once you enrol. The responsibility for finding a suitable workplace lies with the student, and we make the process as simple and supported as possible.
NSW learners will complete the national unit(s) first. Once completed, an additional NSW-specific Key Focus Areas module will automatically become available in the student portal and can be completed at the learner's own pace.
How It Works — Step by Step
Start your online theory. — Work through all theory modules and knowledge assessments at your own pace in the Eclipse student portal.
Organise your workplace for approval. — Identify a suitable food-handling workplace and have a supervisor or food handler complete the Host Site Pre-Approval and Declaration form.
Wait for workplace approval. — Eclipse Education reviews and approves the site before any practical tasks begin.
Complete your workplace practical evidence. — Perform the required food safety tasks at your approved workplace. Record and submit your evidence using the forms and video tasks provided by Eclipse.
Complete the NSW Key Focus Areas module and receive your certificates. — After the national units are complete, finish the NSW-specific Key Focus Areas module in the portal.
