Before You Enrol

This course includes workplace practical assessment. Before enrolling, please make sure you have access to a suitable food-handling workplace that can support the required practical tasks, supervisor or industry expert involvement, and workplace video recording.

This course is delivered online with a required workplace practical assessment.

We provide all instructions, forms, and guidance once you enrol. The responsibility for finding a suitable workplace lies with the student, and we make the process as simple and supported as possible.

How It Works — Step by Step

  1. Start your online theory. — Work through all theory modules and knowledge assessments at your own pace in the Eclipse student portal.
  2. Organise your workplace for approval. — Identify a suitable food-handling workplace and have a supervisor or food handler complete the Host Site Pre-Approval and Declaration form.
  3. Wait for workplace approval. — Eclipse Education reviews and approves the site before any practical tasks begin.
  4. Complete your workplace practical evidence. — Perform the required food safety tasks at your approved workplace. Record and submit your evidence using the forms and video tasks provided by Eclipse.
  5. Assessor review and outcome. — Eclipse reviews all submitted evidence and, once competency is confirmed, issues your nationally accredited Statement of Attainment for SITXFSA006.

Important Requirements

Photo identification: Valid photo identification must be provided before your workplace practical evidence can begin. Acceptable forms include a current driver licence, passport, or other government-issued photo ID.

Note: if you reside in New South Wales and you need to obtain the "NSW food authority food safety supervisor certificate", please be aware that you must have completed the prerequisite unit "Use hygienic practices for food safety (SITXFSA005)". For the hospitality Food Safety Supervisor pathway, students commonly require both SITXFSA005 and SITXFSA006. Requirements can vary depending on the state, industry sector and regulatory pathway. NSW students must also complete the NSW Food Authority Key Focus Areas before a NSW Food Safety Supervisor certificate can be issued.
